My roommate, Mary, and I went to the park today. Mary brought her hula hoops. We had a blast playing with them and sharing them with other people enjoying the park.
I'm in the picture above and Mary is in the picture below. I love that girl! She is the best roomie ever.

Dallas Pride
Dallas just opened up a new park smack in the middle of down town. They put it over a busy highway and it is free and open to the public. We went last week and I am in love. Our own mini-central park. I'm so proud of this city for coming together for such a great cause.
Check out these trees! All of the tress in this area were decorated.
Books to check out courtesy of the city newspaper. Entire families were reading together.
Families could also check out balls and clubs for croquet and a tiny putt-putting green!
My friends and I played dominoes. I can't wait to go back.

5 Steps for a Better August.
I've been in a terrible, bitchy mood this entire month. Here is how I plan to turn this around.
New goals for the rest of August:
1. Take more pictures. Actually edit them and post them on blog.
2. Attend intro yoga class. Go to yoga at least 5 times before deciding whether it will kill me or not.
3. Eat out less. Eat at yummy Pho places only once a week.
4. Curse less at the work computer. Remember that the asshole that sent the stupid email can't hear me. Remember if the person writing the email is my boss then they are only two offices down and probably can hear me.
5. Sleep 8+ hours a night. It will probably help with #4 and overall point of this post.

Another long break without updates.
I can give you a million excuses as to why I haven't posted anything.

Unfinished
A doodle I was working on last month and then stopped... it reminds me of a human heart. I don't want to finish it because I like the shape so much.
It's the little things...
I try not to be materialistic, but I fail miserably on a daily basis. Surrounding myself with things I find aesthetically pleasing makes me feel better. The high I get from shopping and the rush just from the scent of retail stores scares me. I walked into a Gap today and felt my stomach go into knots with the insane amount of self-control it took to not purchase anything. I've never been particularly bad about shopping, but I'm afraid of what could happen. I've seen shopaholics and they're not pretty.
On a more positive, less creepy note, having pretty little things helps to brighten my day. My bright coral over-sized heart key chain and the soft blue cellphone case (on my new Galaxy SII) make me smile inside whenever I pull them out of my purse.

Sailing Mix
I made this mix tape for a friend around this time last year and never posted the picture. It's funny, but even though it was so long ago and for someone else. I still burned myself a copy to put in my car. I listen to that CD almost more than any other one... except for some of the Ben Folds albums of course.

The Hunter
This is my latest "As seen on Pinterest" craft.
Overall it was pretty easy. I used embroidery thread for Orion and borrowed my roommate's white paint marker for the stars. I used an awl and a needle threader to easily get the string through my poster board and tied what felt like a bajillion little knots.
The original uses staples for stars, but I prefer clean lines so I opted to just copy my sky map for the background stars to get an idea of the "random" star patterns.
