Halloweens

Today was very Halloween-centric.
Below are a few of my favorite pumpkins from the carving party I went to tonight. (I didn't carve one, just watched.)

Reverse trick-or-treating

My week and weekend have been shot by school and work.
Oh well.
Tonight I went reverse trick-or-treating. I knocked on my resident's doors and gave out candy. They probably like me right now.

Donkey Tails

I am not a very political person.
Opinionated? Yes. But start talking politics and I get bored.

Mondays and Tuesdays are busy for me academically...
the only pictures I've had time to snap (I do mean snap- there is no time to compose) are things that I pass by on my way to classes.

In your own backyard

Today I went to the Multicultural Festival in Addison.
Below are a few of the pictures I took in "Morocco."

architecture for people with more money than me

Today I took my Ifriend around a tour of SMU.

This is my Ifriend :)

SMU is pretty and peaceful, but I actually have grown fond of UTD's modern architecture.

Speaking of UTD architecture... here is an in progress shot of the future Res Hall.
I am pretty sure this guy isn't attached to anything.

Hoping for Habits

I have decided to take random pictures throughout my day.
I think it would be good practice...
This picture is from the UTD Student Services Building dedication.

Robert spotted this little guy in his backyard.

Out to lunch with my grandmother.

Apathy

Every week I observe social studies classes at a DISD high school to complete my teacher certification requirements. I was nervous going into it. I went to school in the suburbs, and heard horror stories about DISD schools. It did not take me to realize that a DISD education is a horror story... but not because of anything remotely related to the students.

The students sit quietly in class all day.
The majority of their school work is copying directly from the textbook onto paper. Sometimes they'll get a worksheet. None of it is challanging. Most of the time they don't complete their work. They don't care. Why should they?

DISD is a terrible school district because of the district itself.
Most of the teachers I have run into are either unqualified to teach or simply don't have passion. They are fed up with the system, and only come to work for attendance points and a paycheck. The students are fed up with the students and only come for attendance points.
If I were a student in that school, I wouldn't do my work either.

I wish I could take pictures of the high school interior.
It is very old.
It is completely outdated.
It would make for a lovely photoshoot.

Avoiding a Research Paper

The interior of a colorful umbrella at the Cottonwood Arts Festival.

A bizarre fish in an aquarium at an authentic Chinese restaurant.

A very friendly dog named Seven.

The birds come out once the weather starts cooling down.

Ok... now I'll do some research.
